If you notice a big increase in the online traffic to your site and if after you look at the visitor statistics it turns out that it comes from areas across the world or from other web servers, your website is more than likely being attacked by an automatic bot. Those pieces of software go through random sites seeking to log in to their admin area through a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments beneath every article where this kind of an option is available. However, that's something quite popular these days, but if you know the IP addresses through which the attacks come, you can block them, so the bots won't be able to access your Internet site in any way. Needless to say, you'll be able to block IPs even if you allow only people from certain countries to access your site.

IP Blocking in Website Hosting

If you have a website hosting account with us and you would like to block one or a number of IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, that is incorporated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Through a really simple interface, you'll be able to prevent any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it requires to do that is to log within to your CP, to go to the IP Blocking section, to select a certain domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You simply won't have to do anything complex if you wish to block a whole network - you'll just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed within the exact same section, so you will be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with a mouse click.
